Karen's Curious cove map

In DHT we have been learning about the Marlborough sounds and many facts about the different
sounds. The map that I made has all the places that we have past and been to it also includes photos. Start is at Otaki and then follow the line to our destination.

Curious cove camp

Curious cove camp
On Monday we boarded the ferry to Picton. Overall it took us 3 hours for us to travel from Otaki to Picton with an extra 30 minutes for us to get to wellington from Otaki. As we arrived we took another small boat to get to Kiwi Ranch Youth camp. As we arrived we saw the cabins that we were staying in and the playground. When we got off the boat we formed a line and gave our bags to one another so it would be easier. On the jeti I saw a lot of fish and stingrays which was amazing.

The things we did at kiwi ranch was Kayaking, fishing, bush walk and swimming.  Also we got to travel to ships cove where we saw dolphins, penguins and other amazing animals. and also we went to Motuara island which had an amazing view at the top. For me camp was amazingly fun and I am so glad the I took this opportunity to see some nice views.

It's Daffodil day today and Otaki college is doing a fundraiser for people the have cancer.
We had a mufti day and we were asked to wear as much yellow clothes as we can. Otaki college are also going to be selling sausage sizzles. At break time the people that are holding the activities will  give out prizes for the best dressed person that's wearing the most yellow on them.

Environmental issue: Deforestation

Environmental issue: Deforestation

You may think there are a lot of trees left in the world but did you know that 10 trees are cut down every 10 seconds you count.

100 species of animals are killed because of deforestation each day. We could be next if our trees are gone. 200,000 acres of rain forest are gone already.
Rain forests contain about 50% of the worlds wildlife population which is round about 50,000 species

This is very shocking that we are just letting this happen to our world.
We can start changing our lives now even the tiniest move can make a great change into the future.

Holiday Reflection

This is my holiday reflection!

Holiday Reflection.
On the second week of the holidays It was my birthday. Me and my family planned for a whole day about travelling down to Mount Ruapehu.
The only boring part was that we had to drive for a couple of hours but the view to our destination was amazing. About 200 metres away I could see the tip of the white mountain. I knew that we were getting close because of the temperature dropping every minute as we are driving closer.
As we arrived at the bottom of the mountain, it was all covered in snow.
Me and my brother had a snowball fight but It was so freezing so every time we touch the snow our fingers would turn a rather purple/red colour.
It was so much fun there.

Reflection
In Te Reo Maori I really enjoyed making some posters about Matariki. Everyone's work was so bright and colourful. Even though I didn't get enough time to finish my work off I still managed to do most of it. We had maths time next so we did made a few quick changes in our groups about our uniform survey. We discovered that the most popular pants were track pants. A few people people didn't like this idea but majority people liked it due to the freezing weather.
